Green Mood Booster Juice

My favorite thing about juicing is that your home smells like a garden for the rest of the day.
With cases rising again, I felt it was a good time to reintroduce green juice and turmeric into the diet. Turmeric is one of my favorites to work with because of its powerful anti inflammatory properties. Inflammation is linked to depression.
Side note, there have been some small studies done that show curcumin (turmeric) is just as effective as Prozac for fighting depression. Turmeric is a brain’s best friend for many other reasons, too. It’s cheery yellow color will quickly stain anything it drips on though, so countertops beware.

1 Bunch Kale

2 Cucumbers

3 Green Apples

1 Lemon

2 Pieces of Turmeric

Now go do something that makes you happy, watch the Real Housewives or pet the neighbor’s dog or something.

Golden Turbo Juice

I always start manically juicing this baby up as soon as cold and flu season strikes. As of 2020 I think that’s just all year now. This is a super powerful immune booster loaded with vitamin C and ginger. It’s bright, crisp flavor also makes it a snazzy orange juice alternative to go with your breakfast. I personally won’t even leave the house this year without chugging some first but that’s just me. You probably don’t need the imaginary armor that I do.

Enjoy!

9 Carrots (Promotes lower cholesterol and improves eye health)

1 Grapefruit  (Grapefruit is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, perfect for an immunity boost to fight off harmful bacteria and viruses. Super hydrating.)

1 Orange (high in vitamin C and antioxidants. May lower risk of heart disease)

1 Lemon (high in vitamin C, aids in weight loss and good for digestive health)

Thumb of Ginger (Powerhouse of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and improves brain function)

Grapefruit Smoothie

On Wednesday’s We Drink Pink

This is my ideal post-work out smoothie. In case you didn’t know…I work out. If you don’t tell people, then they won’t know to congratulate you on it.

Anyway. It’s loaded with potassium and magnesium which aids the body in recovery after all those gains. Also, hydrating and tropical, you are sure to feel like one refreshed fitspo queen. Or just drink it while you watch Mediterranean Life on Hulu and skip the workout, I do that a lot too.

2 Frozen Bananas (Frozen bananas are best for a creamier consistency, especially if you prefer to eat yours in a bowl vs. with a straw. They are perfect companions for morning smoothies or post-workout because all the fiber makes them feel more filling. Hot Tip: if you’re experiencing anxiety reach for a banana before anything else. The magnesium in them is calming and it’s a trick I picked up working morning shifts at a busy juice bar back in the day. It really works.)

1 Ruby Red Grapefruit (Grapefruit is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, perfect for an immunity boost to fight off harmful bacteria and viruses. Super hydrating.)

Coconut Milk-use as much or as little as you like (Can reduce inflammation and adds a smooth, tropical twist.)

Top with shredded coconut. O baby.

Almost Pie

did not plan to post this recipe until around Thanksgiving because it reminds me of a decadent and sweet holiday drink. However, I’ve been enjoying it a lot lately and 2020 has no rules. We could all use a few more healthy obsessions, so we don’t become one of those heinous bitches going viral at a Trader Joe’s.

Enjoy!

1 Sweet Potato (Wait, raw? Yesss. They are high in antioxidants and promote good bacteria growth in the gut.)

Six Carrots- (Promotes lower cholesterol and improves eye health)

3 Apples-(Heart health and feeds good bacteria in the gut)

1 thumb Ginger- (Powerhouse of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties and improves brain function)

Top it off with cinnamon if you’re feeling frisky

Zoodles with a Lemon Basil Cream Sauce

Zoodles with a Lemon Basil Cream Sauce

Zoodles with Lemon Basil Cream Sauce

My presentation is lacking because I’m not a fuckin zoodle artist but I’ve been growing my own basil & this lemon-basil-rosemary cream sauce is one of the best things I’ve had in my mouth in a minute. So if you make this and it’s not good then that’s on you because mine was rich and inspiring.

*This space is reserved for juice and smoothies however occasionally I make something so good that I’ll need to share it so my goldfish brain remembers what I’m capable of.

Zoodles with Lemon Basil Cream Sauce

3 Zucchinis zoodled (or pasta, live your gluten life boo)

1 cup Shredded Chicken

Half an Onion diced

One cup Basil Leaves diced

One tablespoon Minced Garlic

One cup Heavy Whipping Cream

One tablespoon Butter

One-two tablespoons Olive Oil

One tablespoon lemon juice

Dried Rosemary

Dried Sage

Salt & Pepper to taste

Cook and season chicken to your liking (all seasoning works fine). Set chicken aside and cook zoodles with olive oil over medium heat.

Lemon Basil Cream Sauce

Cook diced onion in a buttered pan then add garlic, dried rosemary, sage and diced basil leaves. Pour in heavy cream and simmer for 5 minutes stirring occasionally. When sauce is thick transfer it to a food processor and blend. Add the lemon, salt & pepper then serve over zoodles and chicken.
